This project showcases the installation of Upside Innovations’ prefabricated stair system, “DOCK Step,” tailored to align precisely with a loading dock entrance.

For the treads, the stairs use a bar grating deck (a lattice-style metal flooring material), helping water and debris drain away easily while providing a slip-resistant surface. The system also includes a landing and handrails, maintaining an outdoor work access route.

This example shows a stair unit installed at the entrance of a warehouse building for a loading and staging area.

The treads use grip strut decking (perforated metal with serrated, slip-resistant traction), helping water and debris drain away so they don’t pool even in outdoor conditions. Because the modular components are secured with bolts, the unit is easy to fine-tune and reconfigure to suit on-site requirements. It can also be relocated when needed.

Above the doorway, a cantilever awning (a column-free canopy) projects out from the wall on brackets, providing cover for access in rainy weather and for the loading work area. The stairs are made of industrial-grade aluminum, offering strong resistance to rust, warping, and corrosion.
